Spiced Apple Cider Vinegar Tonic

3 cups Apple Cider Vinegar

3 cinnamon sticks

2 cardamom pods

star anise (optional)


2 tbsp infused apple cider vinegar

1 small piece of turmeric root, peeled and grated

1 small piece of ginger peeled and grated

juice of 1 lemon

2 tablespoons organic honey, or Organic Coconut Nectar Syrup

2 black peppercorns, crushed to help absorb the curcumin in the turmeric


2-3 cups warm, not boiling water


First prep your apple cider vinegar infusion, it does take up to 2 weeks to infuse so if you’re not making this in advance, you can just omit the infusion step. You’ll still get the good stuff in the final preparation like turmeric and ginger.

If you are infusing the apple cider vinegar, add all the infusion ingredients to a jar with a screw top lid, shake well and leave at room temperature for 2 weeks to infuse. Once infused, strain the apple cider vinegar into a glass bottle to keep on hand for prepping your tonics.

To prepare the tonic, combine all ingredients to a small bowl and mix. You’ll have enough for two serves so either divide between 2 mugs or prepare one and reserve the rest. Pour over 1-1.5 cups of warm water and enjoy.
