Get ready for a whole lot of wholefood goodness!
First, you’d want to cube and freeze some mangoes and bananas, and have them readily available whenever you get the urge to make this incredible smoothie. These and the coconut milk combined make for a super thick and creamy drink. It’s kinda like a tropical island in a glass!
You’ll need a bit of coconut oil too, although not absolutely necessary. It will give your smoothie a more intense coconut flavour. Plus, the fats are good for you anyway, especially for your metabolism. Why? Well coconut fat consists almost entirely of medium chain triglycerides. These fatty acids go straight to your digestive tract, to the liver, where they are converted to ketone bodies, burned for body fuel instead of being stored as fat like carbs.
Turmeric is pretty super too, so make sure you get your hands on some! Most health food stores will sell the fresh root. Turmeric has long been used for its digestive, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits. While fresh is best, if you can’t get any, use ground instead – 1 teaspoon will equal about 1 tablespoon of the grated fresh root.
