For the most part, we associate protein with animal products. But times, people, they are changing! So whether it’s people wanting to eat clean and live healthier lives, or those with sustainability concerns over animal agriculture – more of us are shifting to plant-based proteins.
Protein and fat are best for satisfying hunger, keeping you full for longer so you don’t end up snacking on junk food during the day or eating something you’ll regret later. This smoothie provides you with both pea plant protein and coconut milk which contain healthy fats. Chocolate is always a good idea, hence the raw cacao. And to get this smoothie super thick, we use frozen banana. We recommend you keep a stash of frozen bananas in your freezer, always!
This healthy protein smoothie is a great substitute to highly processed, pre-packaged protein shakes or energy drinks. It’s perfect, either pre or post workout.
1 banana, peeled, cut and frozen
1 tablespoon Organic Drinking Cacao
½-1 tablespoon Organic RAW Maca Powder (depending if you are a first time maca user or not)
1 cup Organic Coconut Milk
½ cup ice
Throw all ingredients in a blender and process on high until smooth.
