This healthy smoothie recipe with maca powder provides balance and boosts energy levels, making it a perfect start to your day. If you’re wanting to keep your sugar intake low but don’t want to ditch the fruit, berries are your best option. Most of the carbs in berries are fibre, very little is sugar. For example, a serving of half a cup of raspberries has only 2.7 grams of sugar, which is not a lot. Use frozen raspberries in place of ice for an extra thick smoothie.
The cashews are optional here, but if you want a smoothie to get you to your next meal, the satiating fats in cashews will do that. You can also switch out the nut milk for whatever you have on hand, and water would work too.
We have used dried figs, in the same way you might use dates, to sweeten this smoothies. Dried figs actually contain more fibre and less sugar than dates. They’re also a great source of zinc, which can help keep your skin clear!
Process all ingredients in a blender until smooth. Serve topped with a sprinkling of cacao powder and fresh raspberries.
